VETERAN LEADERSHIP
Bill Hitchens served our country in the United States Marine Corps and served our state in the Georgia State Patrol and as Director of Homeland Security. That experience made him a trusted leader in the Georgia House of Representatives, where he has been very effective on behalf of his district.
Bill Hitchens has devoted 47 years to Georgia and the nation as a Marine Corps Vietnam veteran, 28-year veteran of the Georgia State Patrol, and Georgia’s first Director of Homeland Security. In addition to being a twice-appointed Commissioner of Public Safety by Governors Sonny Perdue and Nathan Deal, Representative Hitchens has received nine awards and recognitions for his military, law enforcement, and civic service.
Since 2013, Bill has brought that lifetime of experience to the State Capitol, focused on affordability, safer communities, improved infrastructure, and strong starts for Georgia’s early learners.
